Bella, the Toy Juncky

Bella, the Toy Junky

Bella, my little dachshund, is a toy junky.  She loves to chew on toys.  She can destroy a baseball in seconds flat.  I am not used to a dog that likes to play.  Leelee was not much for toys.  But, Leelee was a shelter dog her whole life and was nine when we got her.  It is understandable why she did play with toys.

Bella, the Toy Junky, Destroys Toys

I have only had Bella for a couple of weeks.  She has already gone through six baseballs and three rope toys.  She will chew on them until there is nothing left.  I am still finding little pieces of baseball around the house from a ball that she destroyed a week ago.

Bella is a handful but a very sweet little dachshund.  I need to find a dollar store that sells dog toys because they never last more than a couple of days anyway. Bella, the toy junky, can go through some toys.

Photo Diary of Bella the Dachshund: Week Two

Photo Diary of Bella the Dachshund: Week Two

Bella at rest.  This is a rare thing around here.  Bella is usually running around getting into things.

Bella playing with her toys.  She is like a little kid.  She has her toys all over the house.

Bella is a wide child but she loves to be close to Fred.

A Photo Diary of Fred the Dachshund: Week Two

A Photo Diary of Fred the Dachshund: Week Two

Fred the dachshund is a laid-back dog.  He is not much trouble at all.  He loves to give kisses.  Freds favorite thing to do is just lay around.

Fred is a sweet old hound dog.   All Fred wants is lots of love and to always be by my side.  He is a lot like Leelee when it comes to wanted to be with me all the time.

Fred has become the king of the house.  You can see that he has taken over Queen Leelee's spot on the couch and in my heart.

Fred does have a few tricks to get into your heart.

A Photo Diary of Fred the Dachshund: Week One

Fred found his stop on the couch.

Laidback Fred just likes to watch what everyone is doing.

Fred and Bella napping on the couch. Leelee never slept that much.

Fred is a hound dog that loves to sleep.

Fred's what are you eating look.

You can really see the basset hound in Fred.

I hope you enjoyed a look at Fred's first week with us. I plan on continuing to keep a photo diary of Fred. Please, come back next week and see what Fred has been up to.

A Photo Diary Of Bella: Week One

A Photo Diary Of Bella: Week One

The first photo taken of Bella.  Here she is with her old string.  She played with it until there was nothing left.  I have since gotten her two more string rope toys and two balls.  She seems to prefer the balls over the ropes.

Bella checking out her new home.  She was a little rammy at first but now she is calming down.

First night in their new home Bella and Fred sleeping together.

Bella, unlike Leelee and Fred, likes her picture taken.

Bella with glowing eyes has her rope toy.  She loves it when you throw it for her.

Bella asking for a belly rub. Dachshunds love their belly rubs.

The I will stare at you until you do what I want you to do look.

I hope you all enjoyed a look at Bella the Contented Dachsund through photos.  I plan on doing a weekly photo diary of Bella.  Come back next week and see what she has been up to.

Throwback Thursday 4/13/2017 The Last Months if Leelee

Leelee the Contented Dachshund was a fighter.  She had cancer it was thought that she would not make it until September.  Leelee made it to March.  In January Leelee started getting bad.  I could tell that she was at the end of her life.
Leelee was sleeping almost all of the times.  I rarely left her side.  Leelee was a rescue dog.  She was returned to the shelter several times.  So, in my eyes, many people had thrown this poor dog away.  I refused to do that to her.  I would stay with her to the very end.  I would do whatever it took to make her happy and comfortable.
Leelee had a very strong spirit and soul.  She had found a family that loved her and she did not want to leave her happy home.

By little Mark's birthday 2/15, you could really see that she was slipping away.  But, what an amazing girl she was, she made it almost one more month.  She refused to died on one of her humans birthdays.

Leelee had a strong spirit.  But even the strong souls in the world most return to Creator.  Leelee died in my arms, the way she was meant, with a smile on her face.  Leelee was a dog with a human soul and spirit.  Leelee was not just a dog, she was a member of my family and will be greatly missed.  She is one dog I will never forget.

Wordless Wednesday: 4/12/2017 Getting Used to Two Dogs

When I had just Leelee things were fairly easy.  She went out did what she had to do and came back in the house.  Bella and Fred are way different.  They both like to me outside and they want to walk around.
walking two dogs in the backyard

Walking the two dogs at the same time is not easy.  Fred likes to run and Bella wants to take things slow and smell everything.  Each walk takes about a half an hour.  Leelee only took about five minutes.

walking two dogs is not easy

I love having two dogs.  I just have to get used to the two of them and they have to get used to me.  I have only had Bella and Fred for a week and we are all getting into a routine.  I do miss my little writing buddy Leelee.  She would lay on my lap while I was working.  Bella and Fred are beside me when I work at best.

Bella loves her toys and always wants to play.

Fred is more laid back and likes to be on the pillows on the couch.

Getting used to having two dogs is going to take some time.  They have totally different personalities.  But, I love them both in their own way.  We all still miss Leelee but having these two guys is helping.  It's just going to take us all time to adjust.

The Contented Dachshund Videos

The Contented Dachshund Videos

One of the things that helped me after Leelee had passed away was that I had videos of her.  I only had four videos of Leelee the Contented Dachsund.  But, those four videos were enough to put a smile on my face after Leelee had passed. I am jubilant that I have them.

Leelee doing pretty Lee.  She stands on her hind legs, too cute.

I have decided that I am going to try and get as many videos as I can of Fred and Bella.  Fred is an older guy, and I hope to have more videos of him than I do of Leelee.

I admit that I favor Fred over Bella.  I prefer Fred because he reminds me so much of Leelee.  Fred looks like Leelee.  I think Fred may be Leelee's brother.  He is a basset-dachshund mix.  You can see the basset hound in him.

I took a small video of me walking Bella and Fred.  I can tell you it is not easy walking two dogs. It was not easy getting the video either.  I want to get a video of Fred running; he looks so cute with his ears flopping in the wind.

Bella is a wild little dachshund.  She loves to play.  Bella would be a good hunting dog.  You have to watch this video of Bella the Contented Dachshund killing her string ball.

I hope you enjoyed the videos of my dachshunds.   Come back soon for more on Fred and Bella.

Strange Dream

The Strange Dream I Had

                                                     dream

I had a strange dream.  I was about three or four years old.  I was walking through my grandparents home looking for something.  I asked, my grandparents where is the dog?

I woke up shaking with a strong sense of fear?

I did spend a lot of time with my grandparents when I was that young.  I do not remember if they lost a dog at that time or not.

What I Believe the Dream Meant!

                                                       Fred the dachshund

I believe this dream was my inner child's fears of losing Fred.  I just lost Leelee not even a month ago.  Fred is the same age as Leelee was and he is not in the greatest health.  Fred is my childhood dream dog,

It was a very powerful dream.  Now, I am doing everything I can think of to help Fred.  I run him several times a day.  I only give him healthy home-made dog food and treats.  But, the fact of the matter is that Fred is between 15-16 years old.  The average lifespan of a dachshund is between 12-15 years.  Although other than the cysts and being overweight Fred is in good health. I do have a strong fear of Losing him.

                                                       Fred my childhood dream dog

I do believe this dream is a reflection of my fears of losing Fred.  I have not even had Fred of a week yet.  I am already very attached to him.  I have read about a dachshund living to be 31 years old.

What do you think this dream meant?  Do you think that I am right?  Or, could the dream mean something else?

Meet the Royal Family

Anyone who owns a dog knows they think they are the King or Queen of the house.  Dachshunds truly think they are royalty. I would like to introduce you to my little royal family.  Each one of them has earned a special place in my heart.

The King

                                  Love those basset hound eyes.

Fred is too pretty to be a boy.

Rusty or Fred as we call him is the King.  He earned his title because he is mommy's boy.  I fell in love with this guy when I first saw him.  Fred is a big boy and very basset hound like he looks like a basset hound with a dachshund face.

Fred won my heart because he looks and acts like Leelee.  His fur is so soft I could pet him all day long.  Fred loves to give hugs and kisses.  He has taken Leelee's old spot on the couch.  Fred has become the King of the house.

The Queen
the queen of our hearts Leelee

Leelee will always be the queen of our hearts.  She was my son and husband's first dog.  They loved her so much, and you never forget your first doggie love.  Leelee was the queen and always will be.  She was just a one of a kind dog.

The Little Princess

Bella is the little princess.  She is a trip.  Bella loves it when you throw her rope for her.  Bella is a lot of dog in a very little body.  She only weighs 15 pounds.  Bella is the smallest dachshund I have even seen.   She would make a great hunting dog.

Bella is the little princess.  She follows my husband around.  Bella cries because she misses him when he is not here.  Bella is daddy's little princess.

I hope you enjoyed meeting my royal family.  Come back soon to read more about them.

The New Contented Dachshunds

The New Contented Dachshunds

Leelee the contented dachshund's death was very hard on me.  I did not realize that her death was going to be like the death of a child.  I had a very hard time getting over her passing.  Well, one way to help get over the passing of a dog is to get a new dog.

I had been looking for a new dog since Leelee the Contented dachshund first got sick.  I knew she wasn't going to last forever.  Although if one could live on love Leelee would have made it forever.

Dachshund Angel

Maryanna is my dachshund angel.  Maryanne is the lady that owned my two new dogs, Bella and Rusty.  We were dachshund angels to each other.  She had three dachshunds and they were too much for her to handle all together.  I was heartbroken and needed a new pet.

The New Contented Dachsund

It all started with Bella.  I call her B.B.  Bella was for little Mark as he was just as heartbroken about Leelee as I was about her.  Bella is a little spitfire and full of energy.  She is the perfect pet for Little Mark.

MaryAnna told me that she was looking for someone to take her other dog, Rusty.  I thought it would be easier on the dogs if I took both of them.  I feel in love with Rusty because he reminds me of Leelee.

Rusty is the Real New Contented Dachsund

Rusty is a lot like Leelee.  He is a laid back dog, who loves to give kisses.  Rusty already has a loving nickname, Fred.  We call him Fred because I always called Leelee my female Fred because is reminded my husband of Fred the basset hound when I carried her around.  Now, I do have a real Fred to carry around.

Rusty already follows me where ever I go.  I love him so much because is the male Leelee.  He is just so much like her.  He is my Fred.

Two New Contented Dachshunds

Taking care of two new dogs is not easy.  I have really only had them for a few hours and we are all adjusting.  I can hardly believe there is a dog in the house, again.  I am very happy.

I want to thank everyone for their love and support when Leelee passed.   My son and husband have been wonderful.  I love you all.  I look forward to sharing life with my two new fur babies.  The New Contented dachshunds Rusty and Bella.

No wonder I am In Love With Hound Dogs!

No wonder I am in love with hounds dogs.  I grow up in the days of the Dukes of Hazzard and Smokey and the Bandit.  I loved Fred and Flash's laid-back doggie style.  My grandfather had a basset hound.
                                                                    Grandpop's dog

My parents were dachshund lovers.  I can't remember a time growing up that we did not have a dachshund.  I remember my father telling a story about a long haired brown male dachshund that we had when I was very little.  It seems one of my sisters put the dog in my crib and when I father removed him, I started crying uncontrollably.  Poor Goerge that was the dog's name howled until my father put him back into my crib.  I do not remember Goerge as he passed when I was only three years old.  But, that story explains a lot, I have had a life-long love her the hound dog.
