Spoiled Little Dachshund I love You

A Poem for Leelee the Contented Dachshund

I wrote this poem for Leelee the Contented Dachshund shortly after I found out she had cancer.

Spoiled Little Dachshund I love You

Spoiled little dachshund I love you.
From the moment I saw you, my love was true.
You have brought great joy right from the start.
You have become a big part of my heart.

The six years that we have been together flew by
Like the biggest eagles in the sky.
I do not know what I will do when you are no longer by my side.
To have rescued you bring me great pride.
I know that everything that lives must someday die.

When I found out your true age, I know our time was even more limited.  I could not bare to hear that cancer had taken over you and there is nothing that anyone can do.

I thank God for every day that he lets you stay.
Even though,  I know that the end is near.
I still pray that God lets you stay just a little longer.

The pain that you are in, you hide because you have wolf pride.
When the end does come to you my sweet friend, know that I will be by your side.  It will be hard for me to let you go but, I will know, that it will be the best thing for you to be by God's side.

So, I will cherish every moment I have with you up until the very end.
And, I will thank God for every day that got to spend together, forever.
You will be indeed the little angel I always said that you were.

Dog With a Strong Will to Live

Leelee the Contented Dachshund is a dog with a strong will to live.  We have had Leelee for a little over six years.  A few months after we got her, we almost lost her.  She had a cyst on her belly, and it broke, lucky for us she made it through.  This was after a vet told me to take her home and make her as comfortable as possible.

Here it is over six years later, and Leelee is still here.  She is a sweet little dog.  She loves people and loves to give kisses.  What an amazing little dog she is.  Back in May, I was told by her vet that she had cancer.  He put her on meds and said, that was all he could do for her.

She is doing very well and still being her playful self.  She doesn't get around as fast as she once did but other than that she is doing very well.  She did give me a little scare when she refused to eat or drink anything.  It turned out that she just had a belly ache.

Leelee the Contented Dachshund is happy and loved.  I believe this is why she is still with us today.  Sadly, I do know her days are numbered.  Cancer just doesn't go away although she is now on a doggie homeopathic diet.  I am praying that this will give her more time with us and so far it is working.

Playing Hide and Seek With Leelee the Contented Dachshund

Playing Hide and Seek With Leelee the Contented Dachshund

When we first got Leelee, she was afraid of just about everyone in the house.  She hardly ever came out of her cage.  The lonely person she felt safe with was me.  She would howl if I was not in the house. Over time she warmed up to everyone.  She has even learned how to play.
Leelee, the contented dachshund, loves to play hide and seek with a blanket.

Leeleewants to play her favorite game hide and seek.

                                                            Where did Leelee go?

                                                     Here I am mommy!

                                                                 Where is Leelee?

If you don't play along with her she gets made and doesn't pay attention to you.

Leelee is a stubborn little dachshund through and though.  But, you can't help but love her.
